Metaverse is a virtual world where people can live, play, work, travel and do everything we do in our real lives. It is a whole new world and a unique concept becoming more popular day by day. Everyone is going crazy over this different world. Companies like Gucci, HSBC, JP Morgan and Coca Cola have dabbled with the metaverse.
It is a big project and will take time to complete. Even though it is still under process, people have started showing keen interest and are investing crazily in the project. It is estimated that the metaverse economy will be worth $8 to $13 trillion dollars in 2030 which is a huge economy. People are buying lands, houses and many more, in the metaverse.
Metaverse will make the time we spend on internet more enjoying and fun. It is also believed that there will identify businesses in the metaverse where people will work and make a lot of money. There will be numerous ways one can keep himself engaged in the metaverse.
It is said that we have always and already been in metaverse. The video games, play stations, the toys, the animations, the web, all of them are metaverse which simply connects or enters us into another world. But all of these were on a simple scale till now. The metaverse coming through our way would be more interactive, engaging and immersive. People will experience new lives and new them. Free from the real existing lives, they’ll be able to live in virtual life like in dreams and stories.
Metaverse is a combination of different realities;
- Augmented reality
The most demanded game of its era not so back, the Pokemon Go, was hype and the love of Pokemon lovers and new comers as well. In this game the people playing it would feel that there is a Pokemon the real world on their phone where as in reality there is nothing. The Pokemon is an imagination and the real world is superimposed in the game Pokemons are imaginary.
Augmented reality is an interactive experience of the reality or real world where the things, surroundings and environment of the real world is superimposed by the computer and made interactive with the imaginary things.
- Virtual reality
In the person is required to wear a virtual reality headset. After wearing it, the person goes into a different world and experience adventures. Anything can be experienced with appropriate environment in virtual reality headset. A roller coaster ride, a snow fight, a skiing, race, a haunted house, a cursed bungalow, a safari ride and many more.
Virtual reality is simply computer created scenes with real environment and objects. It allows to user to experience their presence at the virtual world while being in the real world physically.
- Mixed reality or hybrid reality
It is a mixture of virtual reality and augmented reality. In the mixed reality holograms are created. We can interact with others in hologram through hologram lens and it has multiple applications. Even Nasa is using hologram technology to create its satellites.
Augmented reality, virtual reality and hybrid reality altogether makes metaverse base.
Effect of metaverse which will change our lives;
- Social media interactions
Daler mehndi , a popular Indian singer, purchased a land in metaverse and named it as “Balle Balle Land”. In his “Balle Balle Land” he organized a concert and his fans virtually attended and enjoyed it with their avatars.
One more interesting event organized in metaverse is Indian wedding organized by a Tamil Nadu couple. Abhijeet and Sansrati tied the knots on 5th February 2022 and became the first Indian couple to get married on a 3d platform, metaverse.
Therefore in future metaverse will take social interactions to new heights with exclusive experiences.
It will make things possible in metaverse which we cannot do or are not possible in the real life. For example a zombie attack, jumping from the tallest building The Burj Khalifa.
Today we chat with friends, contact our family through messages and video calls, but in meraverse we can chill and hangout with our friends in unreal zones. Be it a spaceship, or on the moon, or being present at different places we can meet our friends in metraverse in our avtaars and play and chat and hangout. One can create their own life in metaverse.
- Virtual tourism
How metavrse will help in tourism is a total extraordinary thing. At present while booking hotels online one can only look at the pictures of the hotel, but metaverse will allow experiencing the virtuality of being present in the hotel and experience the environment. This way people will be able to choose the aura, environment and ambience they want.
Disney will also create a 3D virtual world in Disney land giving a personalized experience to its guests.
In Pennsylvania too it is being discovered that one can feel kiss, smoking in real while practicing such things in virtual world.
By all these we can imagine the extent and advancement in tourism in next ten years.
● E commerce
Metaverse will have its own virtual supermarkets which will allow users to experience the products or items are it an expensive Aldo bag or Nike shoes. People will be able to purchase things and use them and experience them in virtual world.
Recently Nike sold virtual sneakers in the metaverse for $186000 and surprisingly people are buying them too. There are many more things like Nike has its own virtual store where you can play sports and interact with your friends. Similarly Hyundai company have also launched in own world as”Hyundai mobility adventure”. It will allow users to operate new launches virtually.
Many big and established companies are setting up their own worlds and getting involved with the metaverse. Therefore it is adamant that metaverse is our future and it will definitely change the way we live and interact now and the way we will live and interact in metaverse ten years later.
