Web 3.0 is the advancement of the World Wide Web. It will be a real time experience. It is open source software. It enables the public to view the sources and the processed information.
The web evolution will allow the general public to experience more real time interaction. People can be interactive both privately and publicly eliminating unnecessary risks which were associated with them in Web 2.0.
Web 3.0 is effective and efficient.
A new extension to the web search providing easy searches and faster responses. It is more of a transparency based system. Everything that is being operated and performed on the internet will be visible to the users with complete information.
It is a more secured network keeping the private information of the users and maintaining their privacy with good faith. It will provide an exclusive experience to the users reducing the over processed information and eliminating unnecessary ads.
An interesting and attractive thing about Web 3.0 is that it is believed if users are devoting their time in watching the ads then they will be given something in exchange as well. Unlike Web 2.0, in which only the ad providers were benefited, in Web 3.0 users spending their precious time on advertisements will be rewarded either with online payments or token, it is not specified yet.
In a nutshell, web 3.0 is a technology of the internet that will transform and provide unknown privileges to its users from autonomous login to foremost privacy.
Let us understand and know more about Web 3.0
Brief History
- Web 1.0
Web 1.0 was the first world wide web. It was used for retaining data only. It was a hyperlinked information setup. It displayed information or data on the screen.
It was a non-interactive web phase where users would only read and see content on the screen.
- Web 2.0
Web 2.0 is the second phase of the World Wide Web. Web 2.0 is what we use today. It enables interaction with and among the users. It changed the way of web 1.0 completely. It provides more than showing data on the screen. For example YouTube allows sharing and access content to the customers, Facebook and Google allows similar interaction and thus provide services round the corners.
Drawback or flaw in web 2.0 is that certain companies or internet providers rule the World Wide Web. Such as Google, YouTube, Facebook etc.
- Web 3.0
In Web 3.0, actual powers lie within the hands of the users. Their information which they share on website and web applications is being used by the companies for database and advertisement purposes.
Though this helps individuals to get favored ads and eliminate unnecessary contents but this leads to invasion of privacy. Therefore, Web 3.0 allows the users to decide their privacy invasion.
The ways how Web 3.0 can change the internet criteria are as follows:-
- Distribution of powers
The powers of Web 3.0 do not rest in the hands of a few. It is distributed, not owned and managed by an individual or a group of individuals. Therefore an identity will not be ruling the internet alone in Web 3.0.
- Block Chain
It is based on a block chain system setup. The information is centralized and decentralized in blocks. It is effective in maintaining the privacy of the user’s information and data.
- Anonymous single sign on
In Web 2.0 users have to make an ID and login in each single website or webpage they open or use. By doing this our data is being made available to every webpage and website we use.
Web 3.0 eliminates this. In Web 3.0 users have to create an ID and login only once. The ID will be anonymous to all the sites, pages and links. It will create ease among the users, thus saving their time and efforts.
- Self Governing
It is simply the reverse process. In Web 3.0 users will and can come to a conclusion together. They will be making the decisions online with acceptance and agreement of each other. It also implies that there will be no censorship.
For example YouTube sets the rules for YouTube users in web 2.0 but the system will be reversed in web 3.0.
- Better Search
While searching one has to be particular about the information he or she needs. The words should be appropriate and to the point to extract the desired information.
Web 3.0 allows flexible search. One will have to search in a fluency of speaking and specific words and rearrangement of phrases would not be needed.
Thus this will enhance the search process.
- Personalized Browsing Experience
On visiting a website, the same content is displayed irrespective of the person and his choices.
Suppose opening a website and availing the information of your taste and choices. This can be experienced in Web 3.0.
- Uninterrupted Services
Web 3.0 will give a wholly uninterrupted experience to its users. Just like WhatsApp shutdowns or Facebook shutdowns sometimes causing a huge fuss and loss among and to the users.
Since it is a block chain based system setup, the data is decentralized thus preventing any such problem or inconvenience.
- Cannot be decentralized
It is believed that there has to be one owner of this version of Web 3.0. It is therefore necessary to keep it in a centralized form. This is because decentralization would infer numerous owners whereas it is not possible to have numerous owners of the internet. It will cause a severe situation later. Some issues cannot be solved by a group of people instead a single person is needed.
Thus it creates a drawback to Web 3.0 Therefore, Web 3.0 has both pros and cons. Inventors are weighing the advantages and disadvantages associated with Web 3.0. Yet it is a beneficial addition to the World Wide Web, it does possess some eliminators.
