The year 2021 will always be remembered in the Olympic history of India. Indian players performed brilliantly and raised the name of their country in the world. Earlier, India had won 6 medals in London Olympics in 2012 which was the highest, and in 2020 that record was broken. India has won a total of 35 medals in the history of the Olympics to date. Mirabai Chanu (Silver Medal)
Indian female weightlifter Mirabai Chanu opened India’s account with a silver medal at the starting of the Tokyo Olympics. She has achieved this success in the 49kg category. Chanu has won this medal by lifting a total of 200 kg weight, out of which 115 kg in clean and jerk and 87 kg in snatch.
Ravi Kumar Dahiya (Silver Medal)
In the 57 kg weight category wrestling, the wrestler showed a great game and won the hearts of 130 crore Indians by winning the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics. India expected gold from him but he could not win in his final match. He added a second silver to India’s medal chart.
PV Sindhu (Bronze Medal)
India’s star badminton player PV Sindhu made history by winning a bronze medal for India, now she has 2 medals in the Olympics. And she is the first woman player of India to do so. Earlier, she had won a medal in the 2016 Olympics. Now she left behind her friend Saina Nehwal in the Olympic record.
Lovlina Borgohain (Bronze Medal)
In boxing, Lovlina Borgohain of India won the bronze medal and made the country proud. She performed brilliantly in the beginning but had to face defeat in the semi-finals. To keep herself fit, she lifted LPG cylinders and worked in paddy fields. Finally, her hard work paid off and she won the bronze medal.
Bajrang Punia (Bronze Medal)
Despite suffering a knee injury, Bajrang Punia made a brilliant appearance and defeated the opponent to win the bronze. Punia won the bronze medal by performing brilliantly in 65kg weight category freestyle wrestling.
Men’s Hockey Team (Bronze Medal)
India’s men’s hockey team put on a brilliant performance by defeating Germany in a thrilling match to win the bronze medal. India won its hockey medal after 41 years. Earlier, India had won the gold medal in the 1980 Olympics.
