After expanding to Mexico and the United Kingdom, the NFL now plans to expand to Germany. Germany has been selected to host one match every regular season and according to German media, it will start in the fall.
League commissioner Roger Goodell will make an announcement at his regular Super Bowl press conference. It is yet to be determined which teams will be the first to venture into the nation. The cities that host the Super Bowl have already been decided.
Munich’s Allianz Arena is expected to host the NFL International Series expected in November 2022. The city of Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park is doing the same in 2023. Both cities will continue to host the series over the next few years. The New England Patriots are among the most anticipated teams to take on Germany this year. The Patriots are the most popular team in the country and one of four that have recently added it to their specialized marketing area.
In June the NFL made it clear that it would seek offers from interested cities in Germany, following a 20 percent increase in ratings on television of American football in the United States over the past year.

We are on course for this to happen,” said NFL Director for Europe and UK Brett Gosper at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Final decisions regarding the NFL German venue and game date are likely to be announced during the Super Bowl in February, Gosper said the recommendation of a host city should be accepted by NFL team owners.
